Chester-le-Street and District Angling Club

Formed in 1935; Chester-le-Street & District Angling Club started with very little water but we now have almost 10 miles of double bank fishing.

The River Wear is now officially classed as the second best Sea Trout river in England and fish weighing into the teens of pounds are not uncommon. Salmon; too; are caught each season; some weighing-in over the 20lbs; (9kgs); mark. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since those heady-days of 1965; the first year with a declared Salmon rod catch of TWO!! The declared Sea Trout catch for that same year was 658! It doesnt end there! Coarse fishing is excellent; too; with Barbel; Bream; Chub;
